I look at the Mirror

I look at the Mirror

A Poem by Azure Montessa (Blue)
"

I see her...

"

I look at the mirror and there I see
a very young woman smiling back at me.
With dark brown eyes, mysterious and deep,
she hides her monsters with secrets to keep.

I look at the mirror and there I see
the flaws on her face in morbid scrutiny.
She believes her lie--she's nothing but a beast,
with her heart intact to stay human at least.

I look at the mirror and there I see
someone with a name but without identity.
She used to be sure, now she's lost in her way
with nowhere to go, not even a place to stay.

I look at the mirror and there I see
the greatest of failures in world history.
With sins and mistakes all piled up so high
will one fervent prayer grant her mercy to die?

I look at the mirror and there I see
a shattered soul in poignant poetry.
Adorned with applause, hailed as divine
I pity the girl in her miserable shrine.

I pity her too. I love Google. :) ;) Great job though, I'll admit, I looked at the picture for a good minute before actually reading the poem. ;) You truly have a way with words. Keep up the good work!

You're very welcome. :)
I felt the progression in the flow of this poem.
Strong write with pull and direction.
Feeling regrets, loss, and seeking relief.
Viewing the changing image and what time creates during life.

You are Welcome!
It is not the prayer that grants the mercy to die but rather that which the prayer is directed toward.

Words of wisdom. Thank you, Tam.
I saw the woman aging in each stanza finding more flaws and less of herself. It is the curse of anyone who only identifies themselves through their looks. Well done and very well written.

I missed reading you, too. Sorry, I was quite busy these days. Thank you again.
Amazing description in the poem. Each set of lines brought the reader in and made the reader want more. When we look at the mirror. We can see what we want to see or see the hidden demons sometimes. No weakness in the outstanding poetry.
