I look at the Mirror

I look at the Mirror

A Poem by Azure Montessa (Blue)
"

I see her...

"

I look at the mirror and there I see
a very young woman smiling back at me.
With dark brown eyes, mysterious and deep,
she hides her monsters with secrets to keep.

I look at the mirror and there I see
the flaws on her face in morbid scrutiny.
She believes her lie--she's nothing but a beast,
with her heart intact to stay human at least.

I look at the mirror and there I see
someone with a name but without identity.
She used to be sure, now she's lost in her way
with nowhere to go, not even a place to stay.

I look at the mirror and there I see
the greatest of failures in world history.
With sins and mistakes all piled up so high
will one fervent prayer grant her mercy to die?

I look at the mirror and there I see
a shattered soul in poignant poetry.
Adorned with applause, hailed as divine
I pity the girl in her miserable shrine.

Very well written Blue, if you say the person in here is you it scares me a bit. You used rhyme beatifully and the recurring lines just keep reminding the reader to reflect while enjoying the poetic words. Beautiful!

Thank you, Amantle.
I like the structure you used here, the way that you do the first half of each stanza really stands out; but not as much as your final two lines! In my opinion, they are the strongest words, and the best rhyme of the lot.

I'm sure this may hit close to home for a lot of troubled young girls and women alike. Unique

Thank you, Kate.
I like style. It looks and sounds like a poem. There is this kind of consistence. I don't like the message but I enjoy reading beautifully written works.

I don't like the message, too. Still scares me. But thank you, Rob.

Nice one, Mike. Thank you.
There's a nice cadence about this poem I like, accentuated by your recurrent lines. I hope the persona portrayed throughout the poem is not you, because some very damning things were said. I enjoyed this one a lot though.
