Scene 4-Lies and Luck

Characters: Azure (18), Hans (21)

Setting: Montessa's residence and Benjamin's residence, the present.

Fifteen minutes after Azure's parents have gone away, she remembers to call Hans.

Azure: Hello?

Hans: Good morning! Did you just wake up, darling?

Azure: Uhm, yes.

Hans: How are you feeling?

Azure: Bit dizzy and confused.

Hans: Hang-over.

Azure: Must be.

Hans: Sorry, darling.

Azure: No worries. Hey! What happened last night?

Hans: You don't remember?

Azure (sarcastic): Would I ask if I do?

Hans: Nothing at all?

Azure: Only blurs of events...

Hans: Like?

Azure: Like party lights. People dancing. Us talking--

Hans: Us arguing.

Azure: Oh, yeah. Arguing. And... Kissing? Did we really kiss?

Hans: Yep. What else?

Azure:  Stars above. Numbers... Why are there numbers?

Hans: Because you were talking about algebraic expressions.

Azure: Oh, did I?

Hans: Yep. What else?

Azure:Uhm... Wait... I got this feeling something weird happened...

Hans: (laughs) Try to remember.

Azure: I'm trying, you know.

Hans: I called you beautiful.

Azure: Eh? (pause) Oh...

Hans: Then right after that, you practiced on me what you have learned in Flirting 101.

Azure: Come on. I don't know how to flirt.

Hans: Beer does wonders.

Azure: Okay, done with jokes. Be serious now.

Hans: Hey, it's true!

Azure: What is?

Hans: You sexually harassed me. (chuckles)

Azure: What?!

Hans: (whispers) Well, you actually went on top of me and started kissing me.

Azure: Hans, really! You are being so full of yourself now, aren't you? And--and... Oh my goodness... Oh, my...

Hans: You remember now.

Azure: That was embarrassing!

Hans: No, darling. That was hot. (smirks)

Azure: What happened next?

Hans: Well, I told you to stop but you didn't. So, yeah.

Azure: And... And... We had s-sex?!

Hans: Don't worry. I was gentle with you.

Azure: Arghh!!!

Hans (laughing): Hey, chill!

Azure: Oh, my. Oh, my.

Hans: What's wrong?

Azure: My, my. I just lost my virginity and I don't know it!

Hans: It's okay. You'll move on. (grins)

Azure: Hans! Hans! Oh no...

Hans: You. Are. So. Funny. (laughs boisterously)

Azure (shakes head in disbelief): No, no, no, no, no...

Hans (amused): Silly. Before you do anything crazy over there, listen to me first, okay?

Azure: No, no, no...

Hans (trying to be serious): You are still a virgin.

Azure: No, no, no...

Hans: Hey, it's true. Nothing happened between us.

Azure (has somewhat recovered): You expect me to believe you simply because you said so?

Hans: I expect you to believe me because I happen to remember everything last night and you don't.

Azure: So, was it just a joke?

Hans: Yes.

Azure: We didn't go to the meadow? I didn't seduce you?

Hans: We went to the meadow and you seduced me. But no sex.

Azure: How is that possible?

Hans (beaming): Beer does wonders.

Azure: I don't understand...

Hans: Just trust me.

Azure: You promise you're telling the truth?

Hans: I promise.

Azure: Thank heavens.

Hans: You amuse me, darling.

Azure: Oh, Hans. (sighs)

Hans: Have you eaten your breakfast?

Azure: Not yet. Oops. That reminds me. I have to cook now.

Hans (suspicious): You don't cook, darling.

Azure: Well, yeah, but I have to. Today.

Hans: Is that your punishment for being drunk?

Azure: No. My mom and dad went out.

Hans (impressed): Sweet.

Azure: Went to Antique to visit a sick friend.

Hans: Oh. How about your brother?

Azure: Here with me but he's still asleep. I have to cook for both of us.

Hans: Must be the greatest test of your life.

Azure: (laughs) Yeah, yeah.

Hans: Glad to hear your laugh. I miss that.

Azure: I miss yours more. How are you?

Hans: I'm good, darling.

Azure: Will you be working today?

Hans (cheerful): Nope. Day-off.

Azure: That's great! By the way, I'd better start cooking now. Wish me luck.

Hans: Sure. You need tons of it. (chuckles)

Azure: Bye, bye, darling! Enjoy your day!

Hans: Wish you're here though. Bye.

A great conversation ... but for me ... a little irritation ... at the thought of being with someone ... the cell rings ... and then they go on forever. The medium in story telling ... I guess ... may be important.

Dayran, I haven't considered that. Thank you for pointing it out. :)
Sounds like Azure needs to go back to bed. I like their relationship and the way they communicate with each other.

Thanks, Angel. I just hope I am not being too mushy. I hate love stories which seem "forced".

Of course!
I loved their very fast paced conversation. 'Beer does wonders' is almost a proverb of redneck Americans. Again, your dialogue flows very smoothly and having read many authors who struggle to achieve this, I commend you on it. These scenes are well done. I can see a multitude of possibilities here: Perhaps Azure's attempt at cooking sets the house on fire, for example. The light-heartedness of this series is very endearing and charming. Keep it coming, Blue, before you know it, you'll have a novel -- or a screenplay novel (if that is what they call it).

Ah, this one. I forgot that I have read this also. I said scenes 1-3 only. I chuckled in this one. A short scene but there's a lesson imparted in it. Hans is a good boyfriend.

I love this part. Keep it up!
