Secret Stories

Characters: Azure (18), Mrs. Olive Montessa (41)
Setting: Montessa's residence, the present.

Azure: For Sennah! (sits  bolt upright, fist in the air)

Mrs. Olive: Who is Sennah? And what's with that pose? You look ridiculous, honey.

Azure: (blinks and looks around) Where am I?

Mrs. Olive: In your room?

Azure: How did I get here?

Mrs. Olive: An alien spaceship decided to drop you here in my house. So, I guess that already makes you my daughter and me, your mom. Nice to meet you.

Azure: Ma! You are being silly.

Mrs. Olive (sits on the bed): So, who is this woman named Sennah? Is she your biological mother in your planet?

Azure: Sennah? Oh... She's... She's my daughter. (shyly)

Mrs. Olive (playing along): I'm too young to be a grandmother!

Azure: (rolls eyes) Mama! She's just a name yet. Hans's idea.

Mrs. Olive: You've just been together for nearly a month yet you are in a hurry to raise a family? I can't believe this generation!

Azure: (sighs) It's not what you think. Anyway, why are you in my room? That's an intrusion to my privacy.

Mrs. Olive: Because, young lady, you weren't answering the door. See my hand? (raises her right first) It's sore from knocking. So I decided to go right in, only to hear you screaming, "For Sennah!".

Azure: Sorry. But why?

Mrs. Olive: Because I want to tell you that you are going to be in charge of the house for today.

Azure: Why?

Mrs. Olive: Your dad and I have to visit an old friend in Antique. He's in a hospital.

Azure: Oh, sorry to hear that.

Mrs. Olive: Yeah, it was heart attack. We might be late tonight, okay?

Azure: Sure. What are the foods?

Mrs. Olive: Foods? I figured out it's time for you to learn how to be a young woman. Knowing you already have a daughter, you might want to consider practicing household chores. (grinning ear to ear)

Azure: Ma!

Mrs. Olive: Now, don't complain. I didn't cook anything for breakfast. We have raw eggs on the fridge and some green veggies.

Azure: Do you want me to poison Khaki?

Mrs. Olive: As my daughter, sometimes you are a disgrace. (laughs)

Azure: You should have told me sooner.

Mrs. Olive: This is sooner. It's just six thirty in the morning and that gives you enough time to prepare. Your brother wakes up at nine on weekends.

Azure: Argh! I hate randomness! (pouts childishly)

Mrs. Olive: You'd better get used to it, honey. Life isn't at all predictable. (smiles)

Azure: What's with this on the spot hands-on activity?

Mrs. Olive: Let's just say I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Anyway, what happened last night? Did you have fun in the bar?

Azure: Bar?

Mrs. Olive: You told me you were going to a bar. Or did you lie to me?

Azure: Bar? Ohh... So I really went there?

Mrs. Olive: You smell alcohol...

Azure: So... What happened?

Mrs. Olive (amused): I should be the one asking that question.

Azure (brows crossed): I-I don't know... (voice fading)

Mrs. Olive: Remember, honey.

Azure: I can't...

Mrs. Olive: Okay. I won't pressure you now but you owe me a story.

Azure: Okay... But if I was in the bar, how did I get home? Did you go there to fetch me?

Mrs. Olive: What kind of mother would I be? No, no, no. Thank your Hans.

Azure: Hans?

Mrs. Olive: Don't tell me you have forgotten him, too? (chuckles)

Azure: Never! But... Hans? He brought me all the way here?

Mrs. Olive: With his valiant steed. (beams)

Azure: Ma, sometimes, you are too cool for a mother.

Mrs. Olive: Thank you.

Azure: So, what happened?

Mrs. Olive: He dropped you here ten minutes ago with a horrified look on his face. Know what he said?

Azure: What?

Mrs. Olive: He said, "Mrs. Montessa, I can't stand your daughter anymore. Loving her was a huge mistake. Please tell her the moment she wakes up that I'm breaking up with her."

Azure: MAMA!!! (throws a pillow toward her mother's face but Mrs. Olive catches it just in time)

Mrs. Olive: (laughs her heart out) Calm down!

Azure: (joins her mother in laughter) Tell me what REALLY happened!

Mrs. Olive: Hmmm? I think... I don't remember...

Azure: Ma!

Mrs. Olive: I believe in fairness and justice, honey. Remember your story and I'll remember mine. (smirks)

Azure (arms crossed, looking away): I hate not knowing things.

Mrs. Olive: Sometimes, ignorance is a bliss, you know?

Azure: Still. (tongue out)

Mrs. Olive: I'm going now. Take care of your brother.

Azure: Bring me chocolates.

Mrs. Olive: We are going to Antique, not abroad.

Azure: But you can grab chocolate bars along the way.

Mrs. Olive: No story, no chocolates.

Azure: I want my alien mother back.

Mrs. Olive: I'll miss you. Bye now.

Azure: Bye.

Mrs. Olive (heading toward the door): Please, try to cook something edible.

This is great, as usual! Nice Job! You have a really good sense of characters if you know what I mean! Can't wait for the next part!

You're welcome!
I like the names. I guess that would make the girl Azure Olive?

Mrs. Olive: He said, "Mrs. Montessa, I can't stand your daughter anymore. Loving her was a huge mistake. Please tell her the moment she wakes up that I'm breaking up with her."- At least they both have a sense of humor.

Thanks, Leslie! I'm enjoying it a lot! :)
You have a nice story going on here, I think you could probably convert this from a screenplay format into a book and it still would retain its charm. I like the names in this family: Olive, Azure, Khaki. The dialogue reads very well and goes quite smooth, which is something I really like. You are quite good writing it, which is a big boon for any writer. Good job!
