I Plead My Case

A sinner's plea...

 

 

At the cross I plead my case

To You who willingly took my place

Heaven bids me now confess

The beast in me I now profess

And here I kneel before the throne

with sins I've done, secrets now known

all laid out for the Judge to see

Your verdict now awaiting me.

 

At the cross I plead my case

Fearing for my Master's face

I grieve for all the chances lost

Ignorance of a pleasure's cost

Excuses, reasons now prove so lame

Earthly glories fading to shame

Truth withheld and white lies told

Loving the bliss of Satan's hold.

 

At the cross I plead my case

Begging for a drop of grace

Sinful life I have renounced

Your endless love to be announced

Proclaim me guilty for justice's sake

Torment of hell I now shall take

But like to the thief before he died

Remember me where you reside.

 

Author's Note

I have shown my sentimental, sensual, and suicidal side. Here's a glimpse on the spiritual. :)

Anyway, I have nearly 350 RRs so I have to finish those before accepting RRs again. To be fair, I won't send my RRs in the meantime. This poem will be the last for now.

Like the verse form and the structure, perhaps the penulitimate line doesn`t need the preposition.

I used to write spiritual poetry but my muse hasn't been around much so I ended up exploring various themes. You, yourself, have witnessed the diversity and transitions of my writings. The only thing I find constant is the use of heavenly metaphors like angels, fallen angels, heaven... Ahh, you know them all. :)

The poem is powerful and beautiful. I like the description of struggle and trying to know peace and calm. So many statements stood out in the poem.

Begging for a drop of grace"

This is quite religious and full of spiritual faith. I can definitely see this as a Christian Soldier song. Umm - okay, now I have to ask myself. Are there Christian Soldiers today ? Well, if there are, they could have this as one of their marching songs I think.

War against - evil - and - well - all those other things that might be categorized as evil. Basically anything that feels good and you know is bad for you. OK I'm out. I can resist anything except temptation. :)

Very classic, teen science fiction story by well-known author, Madeleine L'Engle. I highly recommend it.

Especially in understanding the concept of distance and vertices. There are more than 4 points to a cross, and there are millions more in a snowflake or star. Keep your hands open wide to accept all possible gates of decision in your life. :)
