Never a Fairytale

Never a Fairytale

A Poem by Azure Montessa (Blue)
"

A typical tale of unhappy ending.

"
He had the eloquence of a poet,
the valor of a knight,
the wisdom of a sage,
and the fortune of a king.
His seeming perfection was a tell-tale,
but I was too crazed to care.

Hi speeches were clever cliches,
his embrace, an enchanted prison,
his love was a lie of lust,
and his kiss, an unforgivable offense.
For when I was still his,
he was never really mine at all.
I was nothing but a fleeting interest;
a remedy for his boredom.

The story has turned sickening sweet,
and passion revealed itself to be a pretense.
He walked away,
head held high in apparent victory,
for he had crushed another dreamer's heart.
And off he went for another thrill,
in search of another damsel.
He left me in my  own tower of torment,
writing this pathetic poem,
about him who loved and left.

Our story was my scar,
a typical tale of unhappy ending,
penned in the advent of a heartache,
in the twilight of my dreams.

He was never a prince...
Just another frog in disguise.
And ours was never a fairytale...

Hahaha, okayy. That's very insightful, thank you so much. :)
Excellent, Blue. Yes, men can be just as you paint them. Women too. Perhaps it stems from a certain collection of circumstances, innate character or both. This reminds me of a very old social study where a person of one sex gets to ask three sample questions of three people of the opposite sex. From the responses they must choose the one they think is the prince while rejecting the frogs. (A free, all-expenses-paid night on the town is the prize. They must say at the end if they want a second date.) Would you say that older or younger people made better choices and why?

Yes men can be horrible. I am sorry you were treated so un-honorrably. No one ever deserves to be treated like this. This is an amazing poem Blue.

Glad you can relate. :) Thank you for your lovely compliments. :)
Falling for Mr. Perfect until you realize he's TOO perfect... Been there, done that more time than I'd like to admit :P

Men just have their ways, don't they? You realize at a point that any quality that appeals to you is a quality that was acquired for the sole purpose of "picking up chicks". I love your comparisons here. They make the reader's interest grow to find out what you're talking about and they're also very appropriate.

"Our story was my scar"
Demanded my attention. Got to me.

The ending is a sad realization, a facing of the facts, of harsh reality. I like that you ended it on such a note.

Lovely, well-explained sentiments, Siren... Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. ;)
Men like this are around every corner. Funny... Many will wither into nothingness and sit alone at a ripe old age and wonder, "Why did this happen to me?" Frieda is right... Cads! So they can string a few lines together, doesn't stop them from being asshats. We're better off without them
Excellent poem!

Loved, he was never a prince, just another frog in disguise. Very cool my friend.
