Never a Fairytale

Never a Fairytale

A Poem by Azure Montessa (Blue)
"

A typical tale of unhappy ending.

"
He had the eloquence of a poet,
the valor of a knight,
the wisdom of a sage,
and the fortune of a king.
His seeming perfection was a tell-tale,
but I was too crazed to care.

Hi speeches were clever cliches,
his embrace, an enchanted prison,
his love was a lie of lust,
and his kiss, an unforgivable offense.
For when I was still his,
he was never really mine at all.
I was nothing but a fleeting interest;
a remedy for his boredom.

The story has turned sickening sweet,
and passion revealed itself to be a pretense.
He walked away,
head held high in apparent victory,
for he had crushed another dreamer's heart.
And off he went for another thrill,
in search of another damsel.
He left me in my  own tower of torment,
writing this pathetic poem,
about him who loved and left.

Our story was my scar,
a typical tale of unhappy ending,
penned in the advent of a heartache,
in the twilight of my dreams.

He was never a prince...
Just another frog in disguise.
And ours was never a fairytale...

A tru fairy tale with an obvious reality ending.
I love the ebb and flow of it.

Thank you so much for your kind review! :)
A beautifully sad love story with a touch of the magic of fairy tale.
A pleasurable way to savor an unhappy ending story. Just imagine, without poetry this sad ugly faces of humanity will remain ugly and will remain ugly.
Blessed are poets like you whose moving fingers write turning the ugly into bright!

And blessed are you, too, Belle! :)
Beautifully penned. Drunken love versus sober and hungover the next day (metaphorically speaking) Love is blind they say. Even more so after a big night at a medieval tavern.

Your welcome. Anytime. Just keep those requests coming. Write On!
Oh wow, LOVE that ending..so strong and powerful. The written word can blow relationships into the void where they belong, when they are as sad as this Blue.
Great writing!

Thanks a lot, Rutherford. :)
This is beautifully written, Blue - a tale of ever after, though not happily... reminds me of two favorites: the saying that you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince, and a book called "The Paper Bag Princess". (highly recommended children's literature) :)

Often we must traverse through weeds to see the delicate flowers, unfortunately. I really enjoyed how you set this poem up. Keep up the great work!

Some men ruin it for the majority of us. A fine portrait of an a*s.

Very well said, Mark. Thank you. :)
He was never a prince...
Just another frog in disguise.
And ours was never a fairytale...

It amazes me how many frogs are out there poised to do this to a dreamers heart. Well penned
