To William

A message to a lover.

Please tell him I will miss him

When fate bids us apart

For though we love each other

Ours is a hopeless art.

The time with him I spent

Is best of all the  best

A "then" worth looking back

As bird longs for its nest.

This poem will cause him heartache

But dread not the goodbyes

I'm sure we're soulmates somewhere

Where our forever lies...

I challenged myself to write a poem in less than 10 minutes. This is what I've come up with.

Wow, what a challenge you gave yourself, Blue, and I think you succeeded amazingly well in accomplishing what you set out to do - even if it took you more than 10 minutes. It can take me a lot longer than that just to write 5 lines. I thought your poem was great - the rhythm and rhyme are right on and the last stanza very moving. You are a very talented poet.
