Goddess of the Moon

Goddess of the Moon

A Poem by Azure Montessa (Blue)
"

My sentiments as I watched the moon one night.

"
Goddess of the moon
Reigning in the starless night
Where is the crown
That your mystic beauty demands?
As you swim in the sea of clouds,
Sweep the world in solemn silence
And overwhelm my senses in greyscale...

Goddess of the moon
In deadly shade of melancholy,
I pour out my sentiments to you.
Cast a spell on me, a poet
Enchant my fingertips
And move my heart and my pen
That my words may pierce a lover's soul...

Goddess of the moon
Watch over him tonight
As he lies on his bed (or hers).
Give him dreams of love
Or memories of me
That he will never forget
The scars that brought me here to you...

Goddess of the moon
Sole witness to my tears
Lull me to slumber.
And as I sleep my thoughts away,
I wish to wake up in your embrace...

This is the first time the goddess of the moon compelled me to write about her. I hope you enjoy reading this, as much as I enjoy watching her beauty. :x

Thank you so much! :)
There's something about the moon that inspires thoughts of magic and romance in everyone.
Maybe it's because, despite the fact that it's really an enormous hunk of rock in space, it's found a way to shine. I could get into the science of it, but where's the romance in that? It carries the memory of the sun in its reflection, and it makes it gentler than the cold darkness it might have been otherwise.
No doubt we all would be dark if we didn't have memories of kindness and love in us.

An excellent poem, Blue. Keep it up!

This was nice and gentle and 'of the night', almost like a prayer...

Praying to the Goddess, that is... :) Thank you, Jonathan! ;)
I like the use the moon and the goddess. I like the flow of thoughts and the desire in the poem.

I like the above prayer. I wonder do old lovers remember the people lost in life? Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Thank you again, Coyote! :)
I enjoyed the lyricism of your lines; the poem has a musical cadence to it. But I am a little thrown by:
"As he lie on his bed (or hers)"
His or hers? And it should be "he lies" -- the third stanza rather takes us from the magical world of the moon goddess to the darker place of remembered hurt. That fractures the flow and causes the reader to question the poet's motivations.

Wow, Annie. I overlooked that line. Thank you so much. It's "he lies", indeed. ;)

This "senses in greyscale" seems totally out of place and at odds with the style and sense that preceded it. This too, "As he lie on his bed" ... must be rethought and redone. However, the gist of it is always good for an expeditious weaving. Carry on.

I only liked her first CD.
Very nice. The moon is one of my favorite photographic subjects it is like a woman always changing and delighting my soul with each change and tingle. Thank you for showing me the moon in a new light. It is quite enjoyable to read and feel. Keep up the great work and awesome pages of poetry.
And overwhelm my senses in greyscale...
I like this line it defines the moon and the view very much. I have often wondered why it looks so colorless. Yet a beautiful woman needs no makeup. So it is great. Thank you for sharing.
