Moth and Fire

Moth and Fire

A Poem by Azure Montessa (Blue)
"

A poem about the moth who fell in love with the fire.

"

Like a moth to the fire
I'm drawn to you
Captivated
Spellbound
By the passionate heat
The warmth
Of sweet temptation
Luring me
To come closer
To take a taste
To feel the fire
Of love and lust
And life and death
And my feeble silvery wings
Dance around you
Around and around
In sweet surrender
And worship
And desire
To dip my tongue
To your delicious flames
And feel your lethal kiss

Like a moth to the fire
I'm drawn to you
Like a moth to the fire
I love you
To my death.

Author's Note

Azure Montessa (Blue)
This is my first time to write a free verse. (My comfort zone used to be a poem with rhymes.) I really have no idea if this one is good enough. Your comments would help me a lot. Thanks in advance. :)

I write a lot of free verse and I really enjoyed this poem. It read very easily on the first pass and contains great imagery that kept my interest throughout. I would actually say the last stanza isn't needed at all since it just repeats what was already alluded to in the rest of the poem.

Thanks for telling me what you think, Sioranth. :)
Really good, even without the rhymes there is a good flow, that binds everything together. Well done.

Yes its good…you can be proud. I’m still not sure if I think it’s cute in a lovey dovey romantic way or if I think it’s creepy in a stalker I’m obsessed with your face way…but I did enjoy it!

Really? Good luck on you and him! Thanks, Slayer! :x
This is VERY good. I greatly enjoyed! It is true to so many instances in life I think in the metaphorical sense; from addiction to the love we know is bad for us...the applications are endless.

This is a captivating free verse. I like the concept of the forbidden love here with the apt metaphors.
Nice nice, Kabayan. Keep it up!

Oh, yes. I remember it.
You're welcome. :)
Giving one's self over so completely can often times result in something worse than death...be very careful who you surrender to. Your friend in words, Pete
