Denial

Denial

A Poem by Azure Montessa (Blue)
"

Sometimes, denying you love someone is the best way to deal with what you feel.

"

His warm, reassuring hands intertwined with mine

screamed unspoken words of how much he cared for me.

As he wrapped his strong arms from behind me,

I felt a surge of longing to stay there forever, safe and loved.

He let me lay against his chest, kissed my forehead,

and murmured sweet promises of affection, "I'm yours forever."

Oh, if only innocence and judgment never were my sisters,

I would have dropped my pretenses and drowned myself in his embrace.

If truth be told, yes, it would kill me so...

And death is sweeter in the safe abyss of denial.

My love, I'd lie to save my vulnerable heart

from the childish fears of the absolute unknown...

I honestly don't regard this a poem. I just collected the couplets I had accumulated at a specific week years ago. :)

I think you have a valid point. At least denial for some length of time. Time to know the real him and not the person he wants you to see, but the real person behind the mask shown you during courting (I know courting isn't a word used anymore, but it still works.) There is always two sides of a face show to you, and sometimes that other side is disastrous.

'Denial,'

A poem speaking to the gamble which we take when love is considered. To have the opportunity for this comfort and safety is so beautiful: 'My, I'd lie to save my vulnerable hear
from the childish fears of the absolute unknown...'

Wise words..."sisters"... innocence and judgment. Those are two good people to have on your side :)
