ERA OF SCIENCE

IT WAS MY FIRST POEM FOR MY SCHOOL MAGAZINE 'UTSARG'. IN THIS ERA OF SCIENCE ON THE ACCOUNT TO SOCIAL MEDIAS WE ARE BECOMING LAZY AND WE ARE FORGETING OUR DUTY TOWARDS NATURE AND OUR NATION.

OH! This era of science,

No one have time to read book’s few lines.

We all are busy in social media sites,

Facebook and Whatsapp are ruining our day and night.

 

Facebook and Whatsapp are becoming child’s play,

Someone should come and show us the right way.

On the account of Facebook,

We are forgetting the expectation of our teacher,

No one knows what will happen to our future.

 

By the virtue of Whatsapp, we are ignoring our creator.

No one have time to feel the beauty of nature.

This craziness and madness of social media,

 Is increasing like the pollution.

Someone should go to get the solution.

I have never read a poem with a message like this & I love originality the most, when it comes to poetry. Your message is important & truthful. I remember being addicted to social media websites when they first started becoming popular. I had to check all my online places many times a day. I felt “down” if there was no response to me anywhere. It’s a sad situation when we are dependent upon social media to make us feel a bit of happiness. You are so right in naming your solution. Now I live in the wilderness & nature gives me a smile whenever I want one. I don’t need to be disappointed at social media & the way everyone is more about broadcasting, but not so much about give-and-take. I really like how you included teachers,books and nature and have showed their importance. Ofcourse the social media is affecting our life in ways which we are diminishing in our thinking capacity.
Suggestion would be that if you could elaborate on some points with right words then this poem will be great!! Like for example why is it important to read book compare to spending time on social media? Why is social media making us dumb? A lot of social media content our build around current affairs and it is control by political parties.... We are losing our freedom? So you can dig more I think. Thank you for this reminding poem of effects of social media.
