A Day in the Life of a TurtleA Poem by MOMandWIFEistheLIFEMy oldest daughter absolutely loves this poem. She giggles when I come to the parts of the turtle's dilemmas and say "Thud!" I was inspired by my husband who has a hilarious habit of imitating that crazy vulture from the Bugs Bunny cartoons: &qu
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TURTLE Ah, loop a doop a doop, here I am, peeking my head out, then hiding it again. Ah, loop a doop a doop, in my shell; if you asked, I’d say it’s pretty swell. Ah, loop a doop a doop, I walk slow, but it doesn’t matter; I have no place to go. Ah, loop a doop a doop, just walking along. Carrying my home, and singing my song. Oooh, look at the tires on that…thud, whoa, whoa, thud! Ah, loop a doop a doop, I’m on the ground, flat on my back, and trying to flip around. Ah, loop a doop a doop, here I lie, looking at the sun, and clouds up in the sky. Ah, loop a doop a doop, what do I hear? Oh, my word, sounds like rain is near. Ah, loop a doop a doop, what is that I see? Looks like a wave coming right for me. Tuck it in!...splash! Whoa, whoa, splash! Ah, loop a doop a doop, here I float. My shell is both my home, and now it is a boat. Ah, loop a doop a doop, this is the life. Being a turtle keeps you out of strife. Ah, loop a doop a doop, that little girl was sweet. To turn this old turtle right back on his feet. Ah, loop a doop a doop, here ends my song. I’ll just continue crawling right along. © 2008 MOMandWIFEistheLIFEAuthor's Note
