Sunny Disease

A negative take on Summer-No I do not dislike this particular season. This is just something that wheeled around in my brain so I put it to paper. :D

Sweltering calidity,

Reflection of sun.

Drawing in closer,

Scorching the flesh.

Rising in temperature...

Blacktops… they simmer.

Footsies of young ones,

Blistering at touch.

Demon of Summer,

Star of the day...

Mirroring off irises,

Obscuring the vision.

Short lived beauty ,

Heat grasping throat.

Paralyzing playtime,

Running for air.

Summertime....

Such a glorious sound.

But alas...

Masses be deceived.

This Season…

It is, but a disease.

Couldn't agree more, especially with the last stanza ! Summer is the season I hate, all the others are fine (especially winter, which I love) but summer is a nightmare !

Like you, Briana, I do not dislike summer. I do however find fall to be my personal favorite season. Cool, crisp nights, clear, starry skies, harvest time... Halloween.

I became parched by simply reading this descriptive poem, and had to remove myself for a moment to grab a cold one (as if I needed an excuse, heh-heh).

Your imagery was frank, biting and spot-on in relation to the sweltering, swoon inducing heat of summer.

Wonderful descriptions down to a tee...great focus without saying I simply hate, it is just like you say a "demon" at times: Once at the outer banks, no lie: Pristine beach....no cars for miles, began walking up a dune and the sand burnt my feet; it was that hot! Summer time is may favorite time of year. I was born during summer and I await it dearly!
To bask in the sun as it's rays shine off my face is the best feeling to me.

I actually am okay with Summer, myself. Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons, but Summer is better than Winter. This just popped in my noggin one day, and I put it to paper. :P Thank you for the review!
