Wrong Direction

Wrong Direction

A Poem by Briana O'Connor

Lacking return

This bitter sweet love

Enslaving her spirit

Stealing self control

Helpless in nature, she’s begging for more

Broken is the heart

Obsessive is the mind

Changing her from woman

To dotish little girl

She’s stuck, glued to the floor

Begging for relief

Longing for his touch

Confused in mentality

Foolish with her gifts

She’s giving, losing self respect

Affection, she’s seeking

Attention of wrong sort

A lesson unlearned

This pursuit of devotion

She seeks self esteem from other imperfect souls

Lacking perspective

She fails to comprehend

This feeling so longed for

Is right within reach

If only she’d grasp it, and hand it to herself

Wise writing. Until we are complete on our own - no one's approval will make us complete.

Very, very realistic. The hidden war within that most people don't realize they are a part of.

That's the spirit Brianna hand it to yourself, after all, you are in charge.

Al

This poem couldnt have been more relatable. We seek people's attention in the wrong ways to fill a void, and it's quite sad really

Brittney: I loved it...it's about every girl I've ever known, little snapshots here and there. I've been there before...everybody wants to be beautiful...somebody tell us we are. We cling to the wrong things, but that's life and we learn. No? You, my dear, are a talented writer. So many emotions and compelling imagery it radiates:
She’s giving, losing self respect
Affection, she’s seeking
Attention of wrong sort
A lesson unlearned
This pursuit of devotion
Like I said: You ROAR!!! Thank you so much....Dale
