Like A Box Of Chocolates

Like A Box Of Chocolates

A Poem by Briana O'Connor

Blinded by anticipation

The sweet chocolates of life

Mysterious in nature

Surprise to the senses

Reaching absent mindedly

Delighted by experience

Rich is this flavor

To be savored, this treat

Another moment passed

Another choice is had

Sour is the moment

Yet gratitude bestows the soul

Living continues on

Decisions continue shaping

Golden surroundings to buds of tongue

Smiles to be mustered for this passing

Unpredictable is each second

Lessons lie in each breath

Like chocolates in each heart shaped box

One needn’t know what waits to be gotten

Even though Forest Gump once said "Life is like a box of chocolate" I never really fully understood until reading your brilliant poem.

You are so welcome :)
Getting really really good at this you are.. A box of chocolates and life.. "Golden surroundings to buds of tongue", wowie; the description of the experience and everything is done very skilfully, with brevity.. Theres ambiguity though and I tried to catch what the other thing was..

I really like chocolate and this left me a hankering for some. Those pieces with the faces on them I thought looked really cool. This is a good write and I like how you used the chocolates to symbolize mystery. Great Work.

thank you very much
Great job.
The worst is, I've picked out many sour chocolates, a couple really really divine ones and I'm ALLERGIC TOO :-( like chocolate, life is too beautiful to not have it and keep going back for more.

thank you :D
thanks for this poem Briana, it leaves a very tasty treat on the tongue haha, but the unpredictability is in your verse not in the box (since we can see what's what in the pictures provided thus it is i avoid the nutty ones, soft centers only please) an excellent write, mouthwateringly so, when do i get my box then?
