The Essence Of NatureA Poem by Briana O'ConnorThis poem has some of what was originally in the poem Green Beginnings. I took suggestions and deleted parts and added some.Poppies and callas, Coralbells and snapdragons, Blossoming their artistry For all to delight in. Honeydew and kiwii, Apples and watermelon, Sprouting amidst The fresh vegetation. Celery and artichoke, Broccoli and lettuce, Growing beneath Flourishing trees. Arborvitae and Ash, Cedar and dogwood, Surrounding verdant pastures, Blooming buds of beauty. Parakeets and hummingbirds, Quetzals and lapwings, Motley viridescent shades Strewn amongst feathered sheath Raccoons and squirrels, Possums and mice, Camouflage in nature From predators nearby. Butterflies and moths, Grasshoppers and beetles, Fluttering and scurrying To their own safe-haven. Geckos and frogs, Alligators and snakes, Sparkling, fresh skin As rind reflects light. Woodlands of growth, Prospering its kind Mysterious in its essence, A revelling for mankind. © 2014 Briana O'ConnorAuthor's Note
