The Fire of WinterA Poem by Briana O'ConnorThe wind scorches the flesh... Like fire. White rain dampens the hair... Sending tremors up the spine. A blanket covers the ground... But it’s frozen, Granting no security. Winter... It spreads it’s flames Destroying the greenery... The outdoorsman's joy. It rules the land For months on end, Trapping souls indoors, Shivering at the concept Of trudging through slush. But alas, It will end... So we hope... We wait For the day The sun demolishes The icy fire.
