Alphabet SoulA Poem by Briana O'ConnorThis is a poem using every letter of the alphabet. The first letter of each line goes from top to bottom, A-Z.Abased by the words spoken,so true. Banned from society for who I have become. Calamity consumes as I wander alone. Debaucle envelopes me as I’m surrounded by crooks. Effacing all I have left, they flee with a smirk. Forgotten, forsaken, I lie waiting for death. Garrulous voices converse in my head, Hackneyed delusions, too vulgar to withstand. Iconoclast personalities degrade my soul, Jeering at me they continue spewing with force. Keen to their blasphemy, I deeply breathe in. Lifting myself up, with all strength within. Maelstrom like adrenaline pulses through my veins. Nascent again, I feel a surge permeate my soul. Obedient to this feeling I stand up tall and proud. Praying to the heavens for the will to keep on. Quarantined, I will be no more. Rampant I shall be till I’m granted place in this world. Satiated I demand to be; acceptance will be my command. Talisman of hope I hold in my hands. Umbrage of my being I’m willing to set free. Vagary is within me if it be within them too. Wafting towards the lands, it’s time to use my voice. Xenophobia, I will not surcumb to. Yield I will not, for I have a good cause. Zany I may be, but I deserve a part on this land of the free.
