Finally FreeA Poem by Briana O'ConnorA poem about my battle from an active drunk to a recovering, spiritual being.A love insincere, I felt it... When you were near. You held me so tightly, A grip.. Most frightening. I clawed at your hands, Attempted... To resist your demands. I longed to break free, To be rid of misery. Alas... A breeze reached my soul. Inspiring me... To fight your control. Diagnosed with Alcoholism... Providing a key... An escape... From your narcissism. A love surrounding me... I listened to the herd. Experience, strength and hope... Lingered in every word. Hopeless no more, I chose another door. I walked through it with hope, Sent my sins away... In an envelope Recovery... Has set me free. Allowing me… To just sit back and be. One day at a time, I'm not afraid of the climb. “Let go and let God”... Joining the rest of the squad. Together we stand, Forever in God’s command. © 2015 Briana O'ConnorAuthor's Note
