Illusion

Illusion

A Poem by Artsy Ali

I wrote this for a college poetry class.

Illusion smiles down on me
with His sneaky wandering eyes
causing visions I fear to see.

A hooded man feeling the rough golden-leafed tree
it shifts into flames, soon it dies,
Illusion smiles down on me.

My hand, burning that cannot seem to be
He comes again, ignoring my cries,
causing visions I fear to see.

Own blood spilled and the man’s soul escaping free,
fighting, I break away from His lies
Illusion smiles down on me.

I fight him with all my humble pleas
mocking my weak tries,
causes visions I fear to see.

A dark room, I run and try to flee
inescapable moments that aren’t real lives,
Illusion smiles down on me
causing visions I fear to see.

This comes across very dark to me. Someone is being attacked, relentlessly by a hooded man -- but it's as if the person is having a bad dream; a nightmare and cant wake up. Very vivid imagery. Well written too! You really have to sink into it a bit. Thanks for a great read! =)
