Chapter Nine; Lucky Lucy

Chapter Nine; Lucky Lucy

A Chapter by Artsy11200

As soon as Ryan heard this news, he called Lucy’s parents to see if she was ok. They didn’t answer, but he was not surprised. He tried again, and they did answer, on the phone was Lucy’s mother, “Hello?” “Hi, this is Lucy’s friend Ryan, is she going to be ok?” he asked. “Yes, Lucy will be fine, she is going to get surgery on her arm in a little bit.

Were you the boy at the vet with her?” she responded. “Yes, I was in the hospital too. I passed out.” he replied. “Tell me everything,” she demanded. “I had just finished helping an old woman check in. I brought her pet into the back room where we would examine it, when suddenly the alarm went off. The vet ducked under the table and so did we, we heard the old woman get shot and killed in the other room. Then they eyes of the murderer peered through the window as we watched helplessly. The vet guided us into a closet where we sat and hid from the murderer. Then we heard a knock on the door, a voice said that they were the police and that we were safe. The vet and Lucy walked out but I stayed in the closet.

Unfortunately, it was not the police, it was the murderer and he shot Lucy.” He explained. “Thank you sweetie, now you should get to sleep now. It is really late.” Ryan agreed to fall asleep, and she hung up. Ryan slept happily through the night knowing that Lucy was ok. He didn’t wake up until 9:00 the next morning, his parents had already eaten breakfast, and his dad left for work.

Ryan stumbled downstairs still a bit tired, and asked his mom for breakfast. “Honey, I have to run an errand. Can you stay home alone for about an hour?” she asked, handing him his breakfast. “Yeah, I can build my lego set!” He responded. “Great! See you in an hour,” then she left. Ryan ate his breakfast, and went upstairs to build his lego set. 30 minutes in, he had gotten a bit bored and decided to take a build break and watch T.V. 5 minutes in, and he gets a call, it was from Lucy.

“Lucy!” he screamed “Ryan! Are you ok?” “Yeah I’m great!” he responded, “I’m so glad you're ok!!” “Did you hear the news?” she asked,”No?” “The murderer got caught! He is going to jail!” she shrieked into the phone. Ryan couldn’t contain his excitement, he started dancing and singing like he did on the last day of school.

Lucy laughed, “Ok I have to go now, we are going home soon!” “Great! See you soon?” Ryan questioned, “Maybe, if I can, I will call you.” “Bye!” They both said in unison, then they both put down the phones and continued what they were doing. Lucy was just prescribed a bit of medicine so the wound would heal, and Ryan continued to build his lego set.

After 20 minutes of building, Ryan’s mom came home and unloaded a few groceries, “I’m home!” she yelled. Ryan rushed downstairs in the kitchen to find a big, fat, juicy chicken lying on the kitchen table, “Ooooohh!!” his eyes widened staring at the bird. “Makes a fine dinner!” Her mom said gleefully. Ryan wanted to help his mom cook a nice, big, thanksgiving sized dinner. “Your grandparents are coming over today!” She exclaimed. “Awesome!!” he responded. His grandparents would always litter him with gifts, so he thought he would get a big prize tonight.

Ryan helped his mom put the chicken in the oven, and start the clock. “About three hours” she said. “Long time.” Ryan responded. He heard a knock at the door so he went to see who it was. His dad, and grandparents walked in with a mountain full of presents! “Hey green bean!” said his grandmother. They had always came up with silly nicknames for him.

Ryan sat at the couch with them and started opening the mountain of presents. After the mountain climb, he had gotten 10 MORE lego sets, AND a laptop! He jumped up and down forever, and gave many hugs. After playing with everything he got, the timer dinged and the chicken was ready. The whole family sat at the table and ate the lovely golden chicken, in small bites of course, and enjoyed each other’s company. Ryan was depressed when they had to leave, but all good things come to an end.
