Chapter Five; Special DayA Chapter by Artsy11200Ryan smiled at the text, but before he could reply, he heard the sound of bacon, eggs, and a timer going off. He new eggs and bacon were coming his way, but what could the timer be. Then he realized, and without thinking screamed “BREAKFAST PIZZA!!!!” as he ran downstairs. His sat down at the table bouncing in his seat. He could only eat breakfast pizza once a year on a special day. His parents thought that giving him a special day would make him feel good after what had happened the day before. A special day is when Ryan eats breakfast pizza, get a special surprise, and go to a friends house. Ryan was already very happy, when his mom placed a slice of the special breakfast pizza in front of him, Ryan picked it up and opened his mouth as wide as possible. But Ryan then wanted to savor his food, so he closed his mouth and began to eat the pizza as slowly as possible. He was then handed a soda because on special days, you get to drink soda for breakfast. He also savored this soda, and sipped slowly. He almost took 30 minutes to finish his breakfast! But when he was done, he sat down on the couch and was handed his present. It was wrapped in a bright blue wrapping paper with a big red bow on top. Every year on special day, Ryan would save the bow and put it in a scrapbook. This would be his 11th bow, so he slowly took off the bow, and placed it to his side. He unwrapped the wrapping paper and read the words Lego Dragon Set. Ryan had always loved legos, so this was the best present of special day yet. He hugged his parents and said thank you thousands of times, he put the bow from the present in the scrapbook, and started working on the lego set. He was halfway done when he got a text from Lucy Lucygirl *Are you still coming?* Ryan 101 * Yeah I’ll be there in a few minutes* Lucygirl *See you soon!* Ryan got a tee-shirt and jeans on and ran downstairs. He told his mom it was time to go to Lucy’s house. She grabbed her purse and they both got their shoes on, they had to walk every where because their car was in the shop, good thing Lucy lived close by. They walked for a few minutes until they saw Lucy’s house. They both walked up to the door and rang the doorbell. Lucy answered with a smile on her face. “Hello Ryan and Ryan’s mom!” “Hello!” Ryan replied. Ryan walked inside while his mom walked home, they had a small home. One floor and that was it! The only had to walk a few steps before entering her room, and her room was very tidy. Ryan and Lucy talked a while trying to avoid the Cold Toes incident. They came to the topic of the good deeds project, and both of them tried to think where they could work next. “I got it!!” Ryan exclaimed, “The vet down the street!!” Ryan had always loved animals. He had a dog once, but he was apparently too little to remember. Lucy nodded her head repeatedly for a long time, almost a little too much. But then they started laughing, laughing so hard they were crying. Neither one of them knew why it was so dang funny! After 5 minutes of laughing, they slowed down decided on times for the vet. Both agreed tomorrow at 10 and asked their parents if it was ok. Surprisingly, both parents agreed to let them go to the vet for helping the animals. The whole town knew about the good deeds project. And each student was given a “good deeds pass” so they could show the employee’s that they worked there. Lucy called the vet place to see if a spot was open. Lucy new the number by heart because their dog (named Pixie) had a seizure problem and had to go occasionally. The veterinarian answered and said, “Hi is this Lucy, would you like me to schedule Pixie an appointment?” “No no, me and my friend would like to volunteer for the good deeds project there tomorrow.” Lucy said. “Ok see you then” the vet said.
