Chapter Two; The LibraryA Chapter by Artsy11200Ryan’s stomach felt weird, but he kept running. Ryan thought a girl would never want to work with him, but she did. Ryan arrived at his study hall and sat down. The teacher inspected the kids and asked, “Would anyone like to go to the library?” Ryan threw his hand up so fast, it made a whooshing sound. The teacher pointed to Ryan, and he sprinted to the sign-up sheet. He sloppily wrote his name down and went to the library, he sat down in comfy couch cushions and read the book sitting next to him. He felt calm, relaxed, and didn’t worry much. He never felt this way while reading a book. A few footsteps walked up to him, and he sat up with a jolt, he looked up and saw the girl with red hair. His heart skipped a beat, “Hello!” she said energetically, “We need to think of good deeds for the project.” Ryan opened his mouth, but no words came out, just silence. “Are you OK?” The girl asked confused. Ryan turned pale, he looked as white as snow on a cold winter day. His eyes rolled back into his head, and he fell backwards. When Ryan woke up, he was in the nurse's office, lying on a bed. He examined the room until he spotted the red haired girl sitting on a couch in the corner. He jumped back, he felt like he was going to faint again. The girl walked over, Ryan’s heart beating faster and faster for every step she took. She then got to the side of his bed, stuck her hand out and said,” Hi! I’m Lucy, are you OK?” Ryan nodded, and his parent walked in. Relieved, he stood up, and walked over to them. His mom not even noticing the girl in the room, left and closed the door. They signed out Ryan and went home. Ryan laid in his bed while his mom brought him a cold cup of water, and some medicine. Ryan gulped down the medicine, and went to sleep. He slept for a long time. Having nightmares about the group project, in the middle of his sleep, he jolted up and remembered, “I FORGOT TO GET HER NUMBER!!!” Ryan screamed as he ran downstairs. He ran into his mother’s room and requested if he could see the class list. The class list had the numbers of the parents and students of his classes. His mom said, “Honey, shouldn’t you be in bed?” Ryan said it was an emergency. With that, his mother stood up, and walked to her computer. It was very slow, but it would do the job. His mom went to the portal page and the class list was taken down. Ryan felt his heart sink, how could he continue the project and get the prize. Ryan said “Thank you” and went back upstairs. He lyed in bed having trouble falling asleep when his phone rang. He picked it up, “Hello?” he said, “Hi It’s Lucy! Ya know, from school.” Ryan felt sick again, this wasn’t the best time! He managed to push out a “Hi, yeah the project” Which was pathetic. “Yeah! I was thinking that our first good deed would be to help the ice cream place down the road!” Ryan chuckled, that sounds cheesy, he thought to himself, “Yeah, sounds great! When?” Ryan replied, “I was thinking tomorrow?” Lucy said. Ryan groaned to himself he didn’t want to work on the first day of summer!! But he thought about the prize, he wondered what it would be. He then imagined $1,000, and without thinking said, “Sure!!” He realized what would happen if it wasn’t $1,000 and immediately regretted it. “OK! See you tomorrow!” Lucy hung up. Ryan had a weird mix of emotions, sad, angry, excited, happy all together!! So he got up and told his mom about the good deeds project. His mom felt happy about the whole situation and was smiling the entire time. “What a wonderful way to spend your summer!!” She exclaimed. “So I will have to go to the ice cream shop tomorrow to help them. Is that OK?” His mom nodded and said “of course!” He thanked her and began to plan the day out. He even got a suit and tie, just for the ice cream place! His day plan just read, “Go to ice cream place” and “Meet Lucy there” Even though it was short and simple, Ryan laughed and laid in bed. It was late, so Ryan had set an alarm and got his pajamas on. But there was one last thing his mom didn’t know about: Lucy. © 2018 Artsy11200 |
