Prelude

Prelude

A Poem by artificer
"

One of my favourites.

"
Do you remember when we were strong

and the world was young,

before time unfolded?

Do you remember the word that hung

in the crystal air, as clear as a bell,

when all was still, before light exploded,

flooding the Eastern slopes of the distant hills?

And how, like stars we fell,

into the living dawn, to be borne,

like scattered seed, on a quiet ocean?

And do you remember the wind that rose

like a whisper, following those

first seconds of wonder?

When the last of the long dark shadows clung

to the cool earth, as the word

faded like thunder and the mists lifted?

How, caught in the current, we drifted on,

as light spread over the restless water.

We were young then, my friend.

As young as the world . . .

very nice. i enjoyed the random rhymes scattered throughout, though usually i find it annoying when i can't figure out a set rhyme scheme. it somehow worked in this poem. and i do remember when the world was much younger.

About
I'd always written the odd verse but most of it was doggerel until I met some real poets who inspired me to start performing in public. My first album, Rocking Horse, is now available at: http://www.c.. more..
