The Turning of the Seasons

The Turning of the Seasons

A Poem by Arthur Rider

Seasons come and seasons go.
Time is in a ceaseless flow.

You’re born, you celebrate.
You even get a chocolate cake!

The New Year is brought in.
I wonder where it has been?

What are the real reasons
For the turning of the seasons?

Presidents and mothers on days we remember.
The March of Spring and Autumn September.

Valentine’s and weddings share the love,
Bright as sunshine and light as a dove.

Four leaf clovers and Easter eggs
Call out to us, yes and begs.

The summer burns us with its’ heat.
Ice cream’s cool touch can’t be beat!

Patriotic tunes stir the souls,
As flags fly high up in their poles.

Children start going to school,
Crowds all dive into the pool.

Halloween masks and pumpkin faces.
The end is near for time now races.

Giving thanks to Christmas gifts,
Finding hope to mend the rifts.

We finally now come to the Year’s end,
The turn of the seasons can now begin.
