The BeginningA Chapter by LunaPulling me close, wrapping his arms around me, I feel so content in his arms. His strength and love surrounds me, leaving me wanting more when we are forced to part. The bells ringing overhead though neither of us want to listen, neither of us want to obey. “Why must we remain a secret?” he whispers in my ear as we walk to class together, the class we share with my best friend, Angela. “Because we must.” I whisper back, letting go of his hand so no one will guess. My mind races back to the other day, the day that Jacob had asked me out, the day that Angela had told me that she had fallen in love with Jacob, the day that the best part of my life was forced to hide in shadows. I was in recovery from the car accident my family had been in, the car accident that had killed everyone in it but me, the car accident that had killed my parents and baby sister. I was in the process of moving in with my brothers who had moved out years before, forced to leave our home because my grandmother didn’t approve of their religion, the religion that everyone in my family secretly was. My older brother, Michael, was 21 and more than capable to take care of My twin brother and me, Jared. They live right next door to Jacob and our friendship quickly grew into something more, stealing kisses when he came to visit me, check on how I was doing, give me my missed work. As soon as I was strong enough to return to school, he asked me out, his brown eyes lighting up with excitement when I said yes, his brown curls piled on top of his head cutely. Later that day, I walked into my math class to see Angela smiling at me, beckoning for me to sit in the seat next to her to catch me up on what I missed. She wrote me a note, scribbling down the words as if there was a bull chasing after her hand and if she didn’t move it quickly it would head butt her arm. Her long, blonde hair guarded the paper, blocking my view from what she was writing. When she was finally done scrambling to write, she sat back in the chair, her emerald eyes shining, and handed me the notebook. I have finally fallen in love!
Jacob is the lucky guy! I just need to figure out a way to get him to ask me
out, convince him that I am the perfect girl for him. I wanted you to be the
first person I told this amazing news to because I know that you would help me
no matter what. You are the most amazing friend! You would gladly do anything
to help me succeed at my wish, do anything that would make me happy! Do you
have any ideas on how I could convince him to ask me out? As I read, I could feel the color draining from my face, imagine the torn look I would get if I told her that he had asked me out. I resorted to lying, convincing myself that, if I can convince Jacob to cooperate with me and go into hiding, keeping our relationship a secret, she would never know and everything would be fine. I have no clue! You know I’ve
never been good at that sorta stuff silly! I passed the notebook to her, happy to see that her big smile stayed in place. When she smiles, she looks so beautiful, so peaceful, and I would hate to take that happiness away from her. Her pale cheeks had a red tinge of excitement to them, making her look even more angelic. I snap back from the memory, thinking about how adorable Jacob is when he smiles, a smile that is only for me. Two weeks had flown by, our secret kept safe by our feelings for each other. © 2010 LunaReviews
