Chapter 7

Chapter 7

A Chapter by Luna

I walk through the main room and see that all the middies’ dishes are empty and stacked in a neat pile. All of them are in their berth so I walk to mine. I survey the room and see that it is the same as all the others, having a trunk, bed, bucket, and small writing desk. All my things are put into my trunk and my desk has my ink quill, ink jar, and paper neatly organized. My book is lying on my bed and several candles lay with a stand on the top of the trunk. I walk to the desk and ready it to compose a letter to… father. On the edge of the bed, I sit and begin to write.

On an unknown ship

In the middle of God knows where

Dearest father,

I would like to inform you what has happened on this hell ship that you, of all people, have written me on. It will be quite vile but it is what has gone on this first day. I hope you take pleasure in putting your youngest daughter through hell!

I was met in my carriage (at least you had the decency to send me in one) by a splendid midshipman. He found a way to get me men’s clothes even though there were orders from you that I must wear my dresses. To hell with you, seeing you are the one who sent me away. Why should I listen to you seeing there is nothing else you can do to me. he then took me down into the middies berth to meet the others. After I met them, I changed into the clothing and found a pair of curious boots. I looked at them and found a note from the captain telling me to eat with him. I decided I would rather not eat with a man I didn’t know. I put the boots on and allowed the middies to come out. Right as they come out, there is a knock on the door summoning me to dinner and telling me that I am not allowed to decline. They took away my freedom of choice and forced me to go.

I get to the captain’s cabin and find that he is already drunk. I tell him I am uncomfortable and he tells me that we could move to the bed. I tell him no and explain to him why I am uncomfortable and he tells me that if I sit on his lap he will tell me everything I want to know. I tell him that if he even touches me, I will kill him. He yells and lunges at me. I throw a chair in his way and run out of the room.

Do you think this is wrong? Well, remember you are the one who sent me away. The only other thing I will tell you is that I gave a man surgery because the captain hurt me. He was trying to protect me. Again, this all leads back to you, father. That is all I will tell you because you really don’t need to know the rest.

Your most hated daughter,

Maria Cara

Love the letter she doesn't seem to sugar coat anything and that makes her very likeable. Wonder what will happen next.

Haha, that's a very funny letter. I love how she disrespectfully writes to her father. And I can understand why. I wonder what happens next, to the next one!
