Depression

Depression

A Chapter by Luna
"

This is an old one.

"

Depression,

A hard shell

That is unable to be cracked.

Winter.

You think thoughts

That shouldn’t be thought.

People try to help you out,

Break you from your shell,

Free you from winter,

But it won’t work.

Not until you find

The one nut cracker

That breaks you from that shell

Or the one sun

The pushes you to

Spring,

Summer,

Fall,

But not to winter,

Keeps you away from the shell.

They keep you out of

Depression.

This one actually has a story behind it. One of my friends was having a tough time and was actually to the point where she was cutting and trying to kill themselves. I wrote this right after she came out of depression and it helped her stay out. To this day, she hasn't tried to cut herself again.

i'm actually a big fan of winter, but i guess i can see how it's more depressing than the other seasons. i get depression from time to time, so breaking from that shell to reach the warmth is the best, most inspiring feeling in the world. nice poem.
