He Drinks

He Drinks

A Poem by KAJ
"

Just about a loved one

"
He drinks to hide the fears.
He drinks to wasted years.
He drinks to bury the hate.
He drinks to much too late.

He drinks to their last song.
He drinks to love gone wrong.
He drinks alone today.
He drinks it all away.

He drinks for each regret.
He drinks to just forget.
He drinks to kill the dream.
He drinks to silence the scream.

He drinks to increase the pain.
He drinks to drown the rain.
He drinks to lose the fight.
He drinks to die tonight.

This poem gnawed at my flesh from beginning to end. I'm left raw. Frankly, haunting! Anyone who has directly or indirectly experienced alcoholism will get every word and line in this poem.
