Death

Death

A Poem by KAJ
"

I am not sure where the inspiration for this came, probably some sort of western on TV. I just added "Forsaken Land" and figured I will follow that with this one.

"
No sun comes crashing down.
No moon does not explode.
No earth will even stop.
While on a horse death rode.

No still to his silence.
No twinkle to his eye.
No whisper or warning.
Another soul will die.

No time can change his mark.
No heart is saved upon.
No depths within darkness.
Once alive now is gone.

No smile replace the tears.
No life beneath the ground.
Memories decompose.
Out of sight, out of sound.

This is about as dark as it gets. "Memories decompose" especially stands out in this poem. Indeed, every sense is lost, even decades of treasured memories, which then decompose like the body.

Though this poem leaves the reader empty and cold, I like the originality, especially the absence of the often expected ending (references to light, afterlife, etc.). This one makes you think beyond the spiritual stuff.

Pretty morbid, sometimes I even feel bad for leaving it so dark. I appreciate you taking the time to.. read more
