Forsaken LandA Poem by KAJAs a police officer, I was assigned to the DA's office as an investigator and worked in the child abuse unit. This poem came from too many cases and an internal struggle as to why it happens.
Out in the midst of nowhere, forsaken land had froze.
There was a common seed that became a gentle rose. Just a fair and hearty seed with strong roots that know. Stretching through the rock to sand far beneath the snow. Neither common nor so fair had this seed grown to be. Innocent and blessed rose, a splendid gift from Thee. Emerald stalk and leaf embossed with a touch of gold. Warm, soft petals mark a miracle to behold. Painted hours drift today only to be borrowed. Clouds breathing slowly cast the darkness of tomorrow. Hoping for some shelter that will never exist. Quietly sad and numb from nature's hollow kiss. Miserable with fear under the violence of the rain. Clutching to forgiveness having no voice to complain. On misused land her will withers every hour. Bring fate foreseen to love's vulnerable flower. Every petal wanes weary while the sun passes by. Fierce winds lash through her soul and silence a lonesome cry. The cruel baron land, an evil hand of stone. Left a broken heart barely beating and alone. Her last hint of love ached as she shuddered to a close. No light burst through the clouds to save this special rose. Where was this Father when she bid her last farewell. Why did He leave her to die in a frozen Hell.
