Kara grabbed her suitcase and opened up the front door. Turning around she spoke, “Goodbye mother. I’ll come visit you from time to time.”
Her mother all but stared at her with a kind smile. Kara walked out and set off to her new apartment. Now was the time for a young woman’s life to truly begin. As she got to her new apartment her mind raced with all the possibilities of her life. After unpacking her suitcase she winds down and flops on the couch. Reaching lazily for the remote she turns on the television. Hopefully the movers will bring the rest of my stuff soon.
BREAKING NEWS! Another person was found missing this month. Reports have been up the roof totalling to nearly 20 people missing. The local police force are working hard on the case. If you have any information please contact the police force. How sad, already 20 people huh?
Kara is alarmed by a knock at the front door. She hustles to open it.
“I’m coming!” She opens the door with ease.
“Ah, thank you so much for bringing my stuff. I’m very grateful! Say, would you like a drink?”
The mover looks slightly nervous, “Well.. I’m not so sure I should, that goes against policy..”
Kara smiles at him warmly, “No need to worry, this’ll be our little secret.”
Nervously the mover steps in. Him and Kara have a wonderful evening, the mover was even so kind as to exchange contact information. A few days pass.
BREAKING NEW! Another missing person. A male went missing this week, he was in his late 20s and had scruffy brown hair. This brings us to a total of 21 missing person cases already. If you know about his whereabouts please let us know. Kara pulls out her phone and brings up her mother’s contact. “Hey mom! I’m enjoying my new apartment a lot. I’m coming over for dinner tomorrow as we talked about before. Don’t worry about food, I plan to prepare a special meal for the both of us!
She presses send and heads to bed. The next evening she goes over to her mothers place and unlocks the door. Smiling, she grabs her mothers limp body and props it up on the dinner chair.
“Why mother, you do look a bit pale. Have you been drinking enough water? Perhaps you should visit a doctor?” Silence.
Kara laughs, “If you say so dear mother. You must've missed your precious daughter. Trust me though with this special meal you’ll never need to be away from me again.” She carries her lifeless mother to the kitchen, and slices her into a fine steak. Grilling her and seasoning her. “Enjoy mother, now a piece of you will become in me. You’ll never need to worry about your little girl ever again.”
