Old Man's Farewell

Old Man's Farewell

A Story by Arrow
"

I once dreamt of being older and the feeling of being alone.

"

“The feeling of a heart beat against your cheek can be, oh, what am I saying- It’s the most thrilling and life changing moment you can be part of while in love at your prime. The slight flux within the pace only changes because you laughed or made them sad, scared them or changed their trust in everyone. The heart can change for many reasons, but while you are laying there listening to it, the low bass will always thud through their body and connect with your future, past and sadly, your present. Why do I say sadly on the present, because I can no longer her the small storm within her chest the keeps me running for shelter as I try to contain my happiness. I no longer have the sensation of being able to come home and share the most comfiest chair in the house with her and watch crappy television, while not really watching, but only to be in the moment. I will try my hardest to give you the reason she is no longer here with me, but it tears me apart more than I can feel. I will say only this before my pen starts to shake. I hope that you will never be haunted by the lonely side of the chair, the silence of a weakened chest dying in your arms and the subtle last breathe that whispers goodbye.”

brought me back to younger, simpler days I thought were complicated and how I should have reveled more in moments like these, nothing like that closeness from those days can be replicated. Enjoyed the read.
