I've Burned My Desire

I've Burned My Desire

A Poem by Amila Jay

Ive burned my desire

In the cradle of the fire

Let go of the worldly pleasures

That humanity praises

Destruction and suicide

For all the things you like

Becoming a Satan

Then an angel

But no wings to fly

Extracting the pieces

Of the synopsis of this life

Fishing my heart

And plucking it hard

Gulping down the pain

That hurts more than a broken arm

And the good lord cries

The world is but a mere lie

Dancing around the mockery

Of this superstitious life

The title pulled me into this one. I like the notion of detachment from physicality and materialism. And I believe that triumph of our desires is a common sense way to an easier life. I like the mounting sense of alientation with the world and its ways.
