Influenza

Influenza

A Poem by Amila Jay

"

In the dark I wait

Cornering myself to the wall

Contaminated with a disease

That the mind cannot control

Voices echo in my head

Laughing and poking fun at me

I clasped my head and dragged down my hair

Asking them to stop

Then silence and I saw myself seated in front of me

Killing the pain that forced me to die

Very good use of language in the poem. The title caught my attention. The use of your description create vision of sickness. A very interesting poem. Left mystery and I wanted to read more. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

Feels like me the past week. I've felt miserable. I always admire shorter poems because I have trouble being concise in my poetry (something I should start practicing I think). I like it, good job!

You are definitely right. Sometimes pain is so intense, that it becomes difficult to word it. Sometimes we don't know the pain someone is suffering, until we suffer it ourselves. Nevertheless, you have managed to capture the pain in a very likely manner, and I could feel the poignancy in those words.

What I think is especially good in this is the fantastic line, I clasped my head and dragged down my hair, a really, really great observation. The kind of line that makes you think...that`s it, that`s true. You should be very pleased with this.

Yes you did it, expressing your emotions. That is one style of a good poet, to be able to express your feeling... And you did just that
