I Love You More

I Love You More

A Poem by Alexis

I Love You more
"I love you" he tells me
I stare at him, I say nothing.
Watching his mouth as he repeats the words
I say nothing
Everything that we have been through together replays in my head
I watch the replay as if it was a movie I was seeing for the first time
Our first words, the first encounter, the first kiss
I can feel the warmth of his hand from the first time he touched me
When he would run his fingers lightly across my arms
the way it felt when he would hug me
I look at him again, everything feels like it's in slow motion
He was smiling, he must have known what I was thinking so I keep reminiscing
His eyes are locked on mine, I think
I replay the first time I met his family, the first time I went to dinner
Over and over, his words are whispered and flown around my mind
"i love you, i love you, i love you....."
I feel him still fawning at me, so I look up at him
His smile has turned to a frown
He is no longer repeating the words
He is no longer holding my hands, or running his finger tips over my arms
"okay"
He turns and begins walking away, I can not follow him
I have no feeling
I slowly regain the feeling, but he is long gone.
In his car and driven away
"I love you more" I slowly whisper toward the now disappearing car
"I loved you more"

This poem speaks to my soul. I had a guy in my life who went from "I love you" to "okay". (bear hugs)
