[How the human revolution will become human again]

[How the human revolution will become human again]

A Poem by Arnoldo Garcia

The revolution is to be human. --walter lowenfels.

Our beauty

Our names

became

ugly

became

offensive

Our beauty

Our language

Noisy music

became

noise in our hearts

a thunder in our caracol ears

Pochtli

the cross-fertilizing humans
culture-carriers humans
representatives of the horizons
and community in the distances
became rotting fruit

Pochos

fallen far from the tree of knowledge

Gabachos
became

whites
who
came
stomping on our plants

stomping on our backs
stomping on our tongues

instead
of a gentle reminder

to walk softly on the planet

it became a human
who branded us with his terror, his plight
his fantasy of possessing the world…

And I remember.
