Standing Strong

Rivers slam against bridges splashing the roads

Dams break letting the water run loose

The sun is no longer shinning

Clouds engulf the sky turning it gray

 

Oceans start rising past high tide

Toppling over the walls flooding the roads

Destruction waits in every direction

Lives taken age meaning nothing at all

 

Loved ones taken away too quickly

All the tears fall down for a reason

Old wounds are ripped open wide

Defenses broken down and collapsing

 

People stand broken in millions of pieces

Trying to stay strong as their worlds dissolves

Futures are lost and washed away

Helplessness floods over everyone’s faces

 

Confusion and anger race through people

What to do next is the undeniable question

Figures stand basically attached to the ground

 How are we going to get through this

 

Trying to hold on when it seems no hope is left

Needing to grab hold of any remaining strength

Holding on to the breaking heart

What is left of this broken world

 

Finally moving we form a circle together

Slowing up and coming to a close

The sun begins to break through

A single breath is let out over us

 

Standing strong through the heart ache

Standing strong through all the destruction

Standing strong with new hope awakening

Standing strong together as one
