Fly Away

Fly Away

A Poem by Sports Girl

The painful memories slip up once again

For how long this time I’m now sure

The heart once full is not empty

It aches again trying to hold back the tears

To continue on throughout the day is unbearable

Always putting on a smile so no one sees the pain

Making my eyes shine from behind the clouds

Being strong on the outside while weak on the inside

You say I still have your heart

You say you won’t let me go

You said you’d come back one day

You said I have to let you do this now

I have to let you fly away for a while

I’ve gone on living life the best I can

People continue to weave in and out of my life

There’s still no sign of you anywhere

Maybe you’ll never fly back home

I try to sleep as the stars fill the sky

Whishes are being spread throughout the world

Dreams are being formed and fading

Hearts are being give and taken away

That night I had little hope left in me

Somehow you were right there next to me

I said nothing but snuggled up close

No tears fell at all that night

You held me in your arms all day long

I felt safe and everything was better

You were promising to never leave again

I’m scared to let you back in though

But you have finally flown home

Omg...I really love the line "I’ve gone on living life the best I can

People continue to weave in and out of my life

There’s still no sign of you anywhere

Maybe you’ll never fly back home".....very simple but powerful as heck...well done...very impressive...

The painful uncertainty to trust again with so much time
apart. Could it would it be the same as before, only time
will tell. A very sad write.

Ah pain of loss and the hope of return. Always tinged with a bit of fear. Nicely written.
I really like the line, making my eyes shine from behind the clouds - love that image.
