Stronger

Stronger

A Poem by Sports Girl

I hear your voice and the water starts to build

I see your smile and the tears start to fall

They flow like a river going down stream

I can’t whip it away fast enough

All I wanted was to be with you but I can’t

All I wanted was your love but it wasn’t for me

The pain keeps trying to surface all the time

Now that you’re gone the tears fall more often

It as if you were the wall holding them back

The walls that I had up are starting to crumble

The heart inside me beats at a different pace

My mind is starting to dissolve our memories

It’s like fighting this internal war all the time

My body feels like it has been fighting for a while

There doesn’t seem to be an end in sight

But yet I think there might be an end soon

Someone special has taken over your spot in me

He fills the places in my mind where you used to be

We create new memories to replace the old ones

He holds me tight every time a little droplet falls

The part of my heart that used to ache is fading

You left me broken and hurt nowhere to be found

I didn’t know where to turn to at that time

I had lost my only protector and shield

I guess you just didn’t want me anymore

I became a mere ghost to you

Something that you will never hear or see

I became an ocean crashing over rocks

You didn't care what happened to me

But he was the one who could hear and see me

He watched all the tears fall down my face

He pulled me in his arms and has never let go

The once beautiful smile has returned to my face

I have become a stronger person then before

He has become my protector and life

You are no longer a part of my mind

You no longer have a place in my heart

I don’t need you anymore to keep me strong

And I will never cry those tears for you again

The ocean has stopped crashing

The river has stopped flowing

I am much stronger now

I am me and I am here to stay

Very heartfelt and strong. You expressed quite well how hard it is to put a piece of you into someone/something else only to have it spit back out at you. Hurts really badly, but life does go on, so we do too.

When I first started to read this, it felt so weird, like a girl I loved was writing it for me, tears brimmed in my eyes as memories flooded back, but then your poem departed from my own experiance. Still a wonderful poem of great emotion.

I loved this, reading it was like I was going through it myself (:

I really like this poem. I think this shows a hard but necessary process that everyone has to go through at some point in their life. You have to bear the hurt and the pain until you can move on, and once you do, you are free. Wonderfully written!

Take a strong and powerful person to break down walls of disappointment. A excellent poem. I like the story and the good ending. I like when the ocean and nature make the point loud and clear.
