Us and Them

A poem inspired by Pink Floyd's "Us and Them"

There's us, then there's them 

but where is the line in between? 

There's love, then there's hate

but why does it hurt so much in between? 

There're laughs, then there're tears 

but what is that feeling in between? 

There's birth, then there's death 

but when is the life in between? 

There're tyrants, then there're martyrs 

but who are the ones in between? 

There's us, then there's them 

but we are the ones in between. 

Draw the line, shoot the other side 

cried the general from his abode 

But where does it start, or end? 

It goes in circles? he asked. 

Sirens screamed, death showered 

Not knowing why, they battled. 

Where to draw the line? they asked. 

But the corpses looked all the same in the mud.

It seems. For every good, there is something bad. We must seek the kind places. If we can? War, just murder of the young for the war contractors. Powerful and worthwhile poetry shared.

Speaks to me of division and division is dangerous. We should be aiming for harmony and yet there appears to be more hatred than ever before. No one wins when it resorts to warfare, we are all losers. What we need are strong leaders who can unite where there has been discord. I don’t see that happening. Good to read you again.
