Tumble-weeds

Tumble-weeds

A Poem by Gregory Dancer

Lidless eye

as to a cloudless sky

waiting forever

for a cloud to cry

diamond water

we'll all be rich again

till drought

dries the water out again

we'll all be tumble-weeds

we WILL all be tumble-weeds

Got me a cup

as empty as my palm

deep with air

fill my lungs with

despotic breath

And I'll be king again

till doubt

dries me out again

we'll all be tumble-weeds

we WILL all be tumble-weeds
