Thoughts

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

We look back to our childhood years the comfort of old friends For all must see, forever we fear how this life must end

"

From time to time I wonder thoughts

that dream of what might be

I wander glade, stroll promenade

make sense of all I see

____________________________

Valleys, rivers, majestic woods

of these, playgrounds are made

Where my clan, played kick the can

and man was measured, weighed

____________________________

We look back to our childhood years

the comfort of old friends

For most must see, forever we

fear how this life must end

__________________________

That promise of a wondrous place

where we forever play

Bestows the thought, it may be bought

through faith if we don't stray

______________________________

What awaits us there, up above

that we do not have here

Life's greatest strength, comes not from length

but springs of love not fear

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
I say what matters in this life? Could it be we learn kindness is it's own reward? I will talk to God when and if I see him. But friends don't need help in Heaven. They need help on Earth. So I shall do the best I can with the resources allotted to me. May all your wishes come true.

Love- Indifference- Hate, of the three, Indifference is the worst , it has no weight, no side to sit on , energy none, just illusion .Then there is Tate, He has whittled away at himself, done what we are scared to do .He knows what he means and means what he knows. We survive, endure this Devils world, and Tate he gives us hooks to hang our thoughts on.

Cute. I love the concept; it's something that we can all relate to.
I especially like the lines "What is there for us in Heaven/ That we do not have here"

Your poetry is always "thoughtful," but this excels! I find this especially good because (beyond the meaningfulness of the thesis per se) it sticks to the theme and comes full circle -- you don't let the demands of structure (she can be a b***h!) divert it from its purpose.
Technically -- the rhyme scheme you note (including the internal rhyme in L-3) is very effective -- and you seem to have re-worked it to keep the metre consistent (possibly more than in some of your recent output?) Well done!

like yourself, i wish to be rewarded in life, not afterwards...and want to see those whom i love rewarded as well. this is a wonderful tribute to childhood memory and values and, life lessons and is masterfully penned. Tate, what can i say? you know how good this is!

Always so well versed, with your idea always so well laid. Sometimes I wonder the same thing; truly, why do we worry about what happens next, when we are still taking this step?
And, yes, I very much liked it. You do so wonderfully with rhymes.

This is a beautiful poem ~ I believe that kindness is it's own reward! And what ever people do, good or bad, it will always come back to you.

"From time to time I wonder thoughts

that dream of what might be

I wander glade, stroll promenade

making sense of all that I see"

Ah the luring lines of wonder perfectly placed.
“Must forever be because we

inwardly fear how this life ends”
Poetry that makes one think is poetry indeed!
I for one do not believe life is as shallow as a mortal shell.
Our souls live on again and again not dammed to heaven or hell.
You’re an amazing writer and I look forward to reading much more of your work.
