We have to keep our God placated with prayers, and even then we are never sure of him -- how much higher and finer is the Indian's God......Our illogical God is all-powerful in name, but impotent in fact; the Great Spirit is not all-powerful, but does the very best he can for his injun and does it free of charge.
Mark Twain
It seems that it truly is our own intolerance of others that will do us all in. We need to occasionally look at ourselves and the things we believe. How else can we ever effect change. It almost makes me wonder why Jesus decided to come here as a 6 ft white man with blue eyes. This in a area where the population is under six ft tall and has light brown skin and brown eyes. He certainly would have stood out. We all know what populations do to those who are different. It is enough to ponder that a man doesn't know if he should laugh or cry! Could it be as simple an observation as this? Could it be true that man created God in his own image? That would surely be one way of explaining him acting like us.

A very powerful, very courageous write. Although we all seem to think differently about religion- I wanted to comment on the beauty and elegance that this poetic piece of writing exuberates. 'Our lives would be a tapestry, a quilt of love that beauty built'- stunning imagery- and this piece has a wonderful flow about it. On a more personal note of its contents: ‘Do I believe In God?- Yes.’ But I also believe that God would want us to ask questions and to never stop searching for what ‘we’ believe in as individuals and as a whole. To find out what helps us get through life and experience it in all its glory. To learn to from every step we take and to pass our experience, our lessons and our love on to others. Not to doubt that there is a higher power than ourselves, but to find what it is that we believe in our own heart of hearts. I do not think that it is for us to prove in our own time, but to just believe… And to have the vast majority of the world believe… That is some miracle. No matter what name you give to it.
Thank you for sharing your incredible talent.

I never have been one to be led by the masses .I always make up my own mind. I look at the Soviet Union for instance and there was a government and way of living adhered to by an entire culture.Yet flawed to the core. I think we always need to evolve. If I were thew father of humanity I would not create a subspecies below me in every way. As a father i want my son to become more than me not to strive to be worthy of me.

You have set to pen of page a most profoundly thought provoking pies of sheer logic and reason's wisdom that shines within any Free Thinker's open mind ... Magnificent ...!
To share one of my favorite Mark Twain Quotes: "If there was an all-powerful God, he would have made all good, and no bad."
I have read this and come back to it many times now to get my fingers on the pulse of this write. Inside the lines beat such a sense of synchronicity in your expressions to many of my feelings its as if you were reading my mind as you wrote this. as I am sipping my coffee from my mark Twain mug and smiling of such tender sentiments written in such a fine form and rhythm

Totally agree Tate. I could end the review there, but I won't. There aren't many religious pieces I read that I can agree with, but this God should be the one that all faiths agree on, and when they can do that, then I'll start listening.
Faith and belief should be only love and peace, not hatred and war, but as long as we keep seeing differences, then we shall keep breaking deadly sins and commandments in their name.
Sometimes I feel like there was some pages missing or stuck together in those ancient tomes.
I hope they turn up soon so we can finally agree and start being united. Just think what we could achieve. 😀
Love this. So simply and clearly stated that it packs a mighty punch.

That’s not the case I simply question everything I believe and I research things all the time for some reason I’m fascinated with religion. Why I don’t know exactly I have religious conversations even with my Muslim doctor to which I told him the other day. Strange fact. The Jewish faith the Christian faith and the Muslim faith have one main thing in common. All three started with Abraham each one branched off from there the strange thing is if you want to become a Jew the Jewish people will try to talk you out of it. They will make you think on it a long time before you decide to become one where as Christians and Muslims try to force their faith on you and tell you that there’s is the only way and those who do not conform our set upon by the rest and uncomfortable truth. But at the rate that the Muslim faith is growing by the year 2050 there will be more Muslims on earth and there are Christians.

I look at the political scene in our country for instance all of the people who follow Donald Trump for instance and I think to myself these people claim to be Christian I don’t want to be anything like that. My other problem with Christianity is simply this suppose you created mankind as a subculture of yourself which is what we’re told. But unlike every father who ever lived You don’t want mankind to ever become as great as you or to exceed you. You then leave him to the mercy of the streets and once grown you turn back and say I don’t like the way he turned out well every father on earth would say if my children turned out poorly it was my fault because I failed to give them guidance. But our God does just the opposite in fact rather than taking the responsibility himself he decides to let his only son pay for his crime All I can say is he had best not ask me to let my son pay for my crimes that’s not what good men do

Now, God claims to be a fair and just God. (please..if want I'd pull bible verse..if need be) THERE has to be a judgment. Any loving parent knows that chidren must be held accountable as they grow...you get the point. A "punishment" had to happen..or God was not true to his own word. The punishment took place in the son (jesus christ) This was the plan from the start...so God loved the world he gave his only son. Could you argue that point? one son for another? sure. I've always questioned but why??? could there have been another way IDK. Now, also remeber, Jesus MADE the decision to die on the cross. It was HIS choice to follow the will of God.was this the plan all along...probably. Now your point on worship confuses me also..though I understand with the catholic up bring. What is required is BELIEF in Christ...man places all the worship etc.. and worship can be confusing also. Are you refering to the constant praise, church, bowing....or living a life or in a way that "worships God??

The judgment is on him the buck stops here so President Truman once said. It is not for the innocent to pay for the crimes of the guilty. If God so loved the world he would’ve punished himself not someone who is innocent of his crime. What son wouldn’t want to die for his father to save his own father? That’s the sign of a good son but to sacrifice your own son for your sins is the sign of a bad father. No good father wants to be worshiped that is a narcissistic traits. If someone is superior in knowledge kindness giving them the last thing they want is your worship what a good man wants is for you to emulate him be like him grow up to be a better man than him from the reports in the Bible of our god that wouldn’t take much I could do a better job running the universe than he did so could you

Well thank you Lydia how kind of you to say. I agree we like acid that is just like us
truly ...it is human misconceptions of our Creator God ... not God's of us ... with all due respect my friend .. this is a sad sad poem to me ... we do fail ... all the time .. and we let fear replace real faith and tolerance .. but those are not the things that emanate from the god exampled and taught by Jesus Christ ...your poem is well done ... the sharp satire and subject are extremely important in my opinion ... open discussions a fruit of your labor Tate.

I am not sure if the words are yours or Mark Twain's but, beautiful though they are, they are in error.
Hellfire is not a Biblical teaching, it is a church one. And surely, you can appreciate that people are imperfect, despite God's appeals to us to listen to his guidance. The Bible says "He permitted the nations to go their own way." How can we blame our creator for the selfish mistakes we make? The scriptures put it very clearly when they say "It is the foolishness of earthling man that distorts his way, and so he becomes enraged at God."
I just wanted to set the record straight. We are all selfish and imperfect.
