Envy

Envy

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

When once we walked among the trees equals in every measure Both felt the blowing of the breeze that bespoke of life’s true treasure

"

When once we walked among the trees

equals in every measure

Both felt the blowing of the breeze

that bespoke of life’s true treasure

We were once best friends together

whose futures seemed boundless and bright

Shall that friendship part forever

with the dousing of our loves light

All was unknown, unseen, untasted

emotions we had yet to show

Now what's left are feelings wasted

the things that helped to make us grow

Shall they turn into bitterness

to cover failings of our own

Then douse down those whom others bless

from a heart that has turned to stone

Through common things and days events

for each moment there comes an end

With our lives joys and discontents

we choose whether we will ascend

One by one choices pass away

grasping those that we most savor

Oh may we not selfishly sway

to envy those, others favor

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
I think many times on the friends whose lives have effected my own.So many times I wonder why I had such a hard life. The truth is I had a good life and I am very blessed to have the family and friends that I call my own. Envy, jealousy and all that goes with it always leads to pain and misery. Be happy to be alive and well. And hope for this fleeting moment that you might be given the chance to share in another s fate and love. For what else can any of us hope for?

very Nice I love it life has it's up's and downs I had bad memories and
some great memories I think on the good one's the most and learned
from the painful one's as we grow older we get one's that can envy us and we did
nothing to cause it but hey I just brush it off give it to god and pray for them.

Blessings my friend

Realization of the needs we have while in that stage of learning. I often wonder where are all those friends once are now and hope they are fulfilled with their lives.

Oh Tate this took me back so many years. I saw my first (true) love walking toward me when I was 13. I was at a park with a young cousin, I was swinging her and her invisible friend, and "he" walked up. A tall lanky dark haired dark eyed boy. He stole my heart and promised we'd be together forever. Well forever lasted until we were 16, we broke up for four days, then 3 months later he came to me and told me that while we had been broke up he'd gone out with a girl, and now she was 3 months pregnant. So he married her. Even before the baby was born they separated. But as it would be she (the mom) kept him held captive by the promise of the baby. Through the years we'd go back together only to break apart again. Guess what Tate - this dance is still going on 50 years later. And my heart has turned to stone.

I really enjoyed this piece. It is well written and flows smoothly. You embodied many emotions that we can all relate to. Very well done :)

One of the best expressed poems I've read, Tate. As for Hope, it is by the Grace of God we are blessed to recognize and know her! Xo! Thanks so much for sharing!

thank you
breath in life, out doors truth roes,
flourishing on dreams, mother she sings.
brush off first lessons
the lie's edged on us so young,
outward of wonder caged in,
words of distractions are stamped in promise
some truths flushed with lies
lost boys and golden girls.
truths in all born in live..

A sweet poem of reflection. Life is too short to languish in the pool of anger and vice.
