My Sunshine

My Sunshine

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

I awoke de-ar, one night from dream-ing found twenty ye-ars, had slipped me b-y All that ti-me, I'd been for-saken with each gray ha-ir, there came a si-gh

"

My granddaughter Payton last week on the deck.
These are all 24' by 18" canvases done in graphite pencil. I drew this picture last week after playing with her.

When a young ma-n, you were a twin-kle

within the e-ye, of a dream one da-y

I laughed each ti-me, I thought of yo-u

wondering just wha-t, you might sa-y

I awoke de-ar, one night from dream-ing

found twenty ye-ars, had slipped me b-y

All that ti-me, I'd felt for-saken

each new gray ha-ir, there came a si-gh

Just one look de-ar, was all I nee-ded

to know you we-re, the girl I sa-w

The dream I wo-uld, always trea-sure

with the fir-st, of your words Pa-pa

The night no lo-nger, haunts m-e

with dreams of what ma-y, not come tru-e

Now each da-y, a new ad-venture

since life li-t, my world with yo-u

To Payton
I wish you a long and happy life. And may your first words be Papa Tate.

I think I broke every rule with this one lol
I was playing with my granddaughter last week on the deck and could swear she said "Papa".That was all it took for me I was hooked. I'm so easy lol

Set to the melody of You Are My Sunshine, the piece is to be sung to the melody. Hence the hyphens and pauses

This is absolutely beautiful Tate, it melted my heart. It really brings me back to when I was little, how wonderful everything was. I can even remember my mother singing this song to me before bed or when I was scared.
Thank you for sharing this piece and thank you for bringing back such precious memories.

First of all - your artistic skills are extraordinary, and I love the picture of your granddaughter. I bet she has tons of fun playing with you and one day she'll admire your work of art and maybe even envy you a little bit. As for how you feel about her, it's quite clear ... 'Now each day, a new adventure since life lit, my world with you'. Beautiful, I loved it. :)

lovely sentiment and what would one expect from the life created from within that holds the strings of your heart in her hand. Reflective beauty of ones own shone back from lo the many years ago...what could possibly be more endearing? Written well enough but the power is not in the skill of craft so much as in the pride conveyed by the simple fact of this creation alone!

ohh Tate my friend, what really touched me ..the way you told about age
how the years race by like a flicker ,moments, with each sigh a new grey hair
with each ,a little of the that feeling like you could shake the earth fades away
and you feel less energy each day, walking meters feels like doing long miles run
still i never thought of it that way,its at last the brains what counts ,for with passing years
your brains got boosted to lauch much further and too far than you ever thought you could
with the years life is not counted by body strength ,but with the mind ,it could light and shine, like never before
lovely write

That is a magical moment when you bond with a child, especially a grandchild. Novel idea with the hyphens to make it synch up...
