My Sunshine

My Sunshine

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

I awoke de-ar, one night from dream-ing found twenty ye-ars, had slipped me b-y All that ti-me, I'd been for-saken with each gray ha-ir, there came a si-gh

"

My granddaughter Payton last week on the deck.
These are all 24' by 18" canvases done in graphite pencil. I drew this picture last week after playing with her.

When a young ma-n, you were a twin-kle

within the e-ye, of a dream one da-y

I laughed each ti-me, I thought of yo-u

wondering just wha-t, you might sa-y

I awoke de-ar, one night from dream-ing

found twenty ye-ars, had slipped me b-y

All that ti-me, I'd felt for-saken

each new gray ha-ir, there came a si-gh

Just one look de-ar, was all I nee-ded

to know you we-re, the girl I sa-w

The dream I wo-uld, always trea-sure

with the fir-st, of your words Pa-pa

The night no lo-nger, haunts m-e

with dreams of what ma-y, not come tru-e

Now each da-y, a new ad-venture

since life li-t, my world with yo-u

To Payton
I wish you a long and happy life. And may your first words be Papa Tate.

I think I broke every rule with this one lol
I was playing with my granddaughter last week on the deck and could swear she said "Papa".That was all it took for me I was hooked. I'm so easy lol

Set to the melody of You Are My Sunshine, the piece is to be sung to the melody. Hence the hyphens and pauses

This is absolutely beautiful Tate, it melted my heart. It really brings me back to when I was little, how wonderful everything was. I can even remember my mother singing this song to me before bed or when I was scared.
Thank you for sharing this piece and thank you for bringing back such precious memories.

oh my what a wonderful sentiment, Tate
I love this and can relate so much. Felt pretty much the same when I held and played with my granddaughter the first time. She is now 7 and she still wants to sit in Nana's lap and we still play but of course we have graduated to barbie dolls and tea parties. Grandkids are the best. I surely want more, just cant seem to get the kids on board with the idea yet. lol
This was so wonderful and touching. Love the art work too. It is nice to see a man adore kids, grandkids so much. Wonderful piece, this should be printed out, framed and hung in her room, so she can have this to cherish. Wonderful

What a brilliant dedication to your granddaughter...the picture really added some flavor to the piece itself so i applaud you for that too:)

"The night no lo-nger, haunts m-e

Now each da-y, a new ad-venture

I love the breathlessness that the piece leaves...it's more than a fleeting feeling as with most pieces. It felt heavy and i think i'm still feeling it as i write this review...that is something i always try and accomplish...my respect for that my friend.

As always your words are precisely picked and the flow was more than perfect! The conciseness in the words and the direction was flawless.

Another magnificent glimpse into the cogs of Tate Morgan...
