None Ever Come To Stay

None Ever Come To Stay

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

With them go my joys and sorrows this life spent chasing dreams The grandiose philosophy built of my lofty hopes and schemes

"
Scout and I

Scout and I

The time trickles by unnoticed

our moments fade away

While their coming and their going

pass us by day to day

Each new morn comes by to meet me

as nothing seems to last

The thoughts of youth just melt away

as all become the past

With them go my joys and sorrows

this life spent chasing dreams

The grandiose philosophy

of lofty hopes and schemes

Younger days when I once believed

I'll sleep when I am dead

Now I feed the mind on learning

I still keep those fires fed

Why can't we inherit wisdom

pass along what we know

Given benefit of insight

might help our species grow

The generations march to war

pounding drums of glory

Saying it will happen no more

it's the same sad story

Gales form around each new child's life

what they don't know be true

The winds foretell what future holds

oh if they only knew

The sands of time keep flowing on

our lives to pass away

Some are coming, some are going

none ever come to stay

We will never make it to enlightenment at the rate we are going. Men just don't live long enough to learn from their mistakes.

Wow, very insightful work. We can't hold them back, and really would we want to?

I sit back and I listen to the news, and my hopes become disheartened; people are too wrapped up in their own lives to worry about the problems of the world. I wonder if we will ever put that kind of energy into preserving life, instead of coming up with a new cell phone every month. I have to thank Bard for that analogy…

Great Write Tate!

Lovely! True it would be dreadfully wonderful if wisdom was innate my friend. But i guess the reason it's not is because we sometimes need to be burned before we learn life long lessons.

Call me naive but i think wisdom wouldn't be wisdom if it could be picked of a tree. It has to be sowed and then reaped likewise as is everything else.

Sublime read my friend!

Ahhh Tate.. This is one of my favorites of your works.. So true that life is so short.. and lessons to be learned are often hard to figure out. I love the pic of you in your younger years. Wonderful.

I often think it is less that Man fails to learn from his mistakes, and more a case of Man thinking he is the supreme being...therefore if he repeats the same mistake over repeatedly, he can somehow change what the outcome will be. ;) A lovely, profound write my friend, you always impart such meaning and wisdom in what you post.

Taking a nice breath and reading your work as I have MADE myself with all that is occurring now with my sister in ICU [plus a lot of other things], I thank you for this writing and appreciate that you are amazing at what you do per usual my dear Tate.

TEXT ME either later today or tomorrow for us to catch up on things [as if I am not in the middle of anything I will call you back]. Maybe around 5pm this night or tomorrow as I go to sleep rather early and do not take calls due to my early waking and constant worrying. Hugs and a good write my dear.

Very wise and true... I guess it is just one of the complicated issues that we simply relate to human nature because we can't really understand why it exists, we don't realize how happy we are today until we recall it tomorrow, and we don't recognize how loved we are until we end up alone, today at many points would be perfection compared to a unknown tomorrow, powerful and wonderful poetry, thanks for sharing.
