None Ever Come To Stay

None Ever Come To Stay

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

With them go my joys and sorrows this life spent chasing dreams The grandiose philosophy built of my lofty hopes and schemes

"
Scout and I

Scout and I

The time trickles by unnoticed

our moments fade away

While their coming and their going

pass us by day to day

Each new morn comes by to meet me

as nothing seems to last

The thoughts of youth just melt away

as all become the past

With them go my joys and sorrows

this life spent chasing dreams

The grandiose philosophy

of lofty hopes and schemes

Younger days when I once believed

I'll sleep when I am dead

Now I feed the mind on learning

I still keep those fires fed

Why can't we inherit wisdom

pass along what we know

Given benefit of insight

might help our species grow

The generations march to war

pounding drums of glory

Saying it will happen no more

it's the same sad story

Gales form around each new child's life

what they don't know be true

The winds foretell what future holds

oh if they only knew

The sands of time keep flowing on

our lives to pass away

Some are coming, some are going

none ever come to stay

We will never make it to enlightenment at the rate we are going. Men just don't live long enough to learn from their mistakes.

Aye true enough unless you try really hard to reach that point - and give up everything for it to come home and find what - hopefully the house full of that beautiful wife, those lovely children, grandchildren and a warm meal and bed at night...if you can possibly sleep that is...All my best - a lovely write my dear friend!
Light,
Siddartha

This was beautifully written! Powerful and very true. Past memories are so dear and we should always keep them close to our hearts, but the future awaits for us and that's something we can look forward to. This was a great write and I wish I had the power to write as splendidly and beautifully as you! Keep writing! :)

This is so powerful.. such a profound voice for the day.. How I hope I am willing to learn... and to grow in wisdom.. May it wash over us like spring rain, my friend.

"It is impossible for a man to learn what he thinks he already knows"
Epictetus
Dear Tate,
Warm, moist tears fall down my face as I read this; the saltyness tastes so familiar as they slip into my mouth. Are they tears of joy, tears of sadness or possibly the perfect blend of both? I understand and feel deeply the words from your soul they touch me and prick me, and comfort me too. They leave me to balance my love with my fear and bring closer to me the loves I hold dear.

You inspire me and as I have read somewhere, "My job is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable." So, please keep writing for it is clear that you are doing them both.
Thanks Again

Yeah you have a new book. This must be one of new chapters and its awesome. I started noticing that men tend to make the same mistakes. Old civiliaztion they didn't die for no apparent reason it was because they kept killing each other off for power and look where they are now. We have history we keep its about time we useto make better history, better society, a better, and before we know it we might learn from mistakes before the end of time . So well done Tate of poetry with a voice.

I disagree...we have all the tools, we have nothing to learn, we just need to remember..or re member - reconnect with our souls and each other, then we really can move mountains..never give up hope!

"The thoughts of youth just melt away as all become the past..." I love that line for some reason, and you have chosen a beautiful song to go along with such a beautiful and poignant poem.

Youth is wasted on the young. Wisdom can be passed on to our young, but given the state of the world, I question what wisdom is being passed. That would include what I've passed on to my daughter. As always, thought-provoking, Tate.
